A nap
He lies in my arms
weightless in sleep
laughter tickling the corners of his lips
and jiggling him now and then
as dreams come to play
The soft heaviness against my breast
where he rests his golden head
and the gentle coolness of each and every breath
soothes me into sleep myself
Eyes closed we share a timeless moment
mother and child
melded into one another
dreaming
living
for a moment
as one
And a tear comes to my eye
as I rouse
my arms slipping for a moment
threatening to release this precious child
knowing that one day
I must

`yeah... sighhh just saw my middle son off to his fall semester of college... he had told me I had til this evening... but he took off around 10 this morning... sigh.... I will miss him!
